Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design wanted to survey their Charing Cross Road campus to determine the feasibility of providing WiFi (broadband wireless) for students and staff. The key requirements from the survey were to determine the number and location of WiFi access points required to ensure budget constraints were met and to allow competitive tendering for equipment supply and installation.
Daconi performed a wireless survey to plan WiFi coverage in both 2.4 and 5GHz bands. Using the Ekahau Site Survey tool Daconi were able to determine the optimum location and number of access points whilst identifying any potential problems from existing WiFi devices, e.g. locating rogue access points and external interfering access points. Daconi also used a portable spectrum analyser to ensure that no interference was present from non-WiFi devices.
Jenny Chittenden, IT Technical Manager, said "Daconi responded quickly and accurately to my initial quotation request and I am impressed with the work Daconi did for us at Charing Cross Road."
